Modern Forms is pleased to have loaned Emeka Ogboh’s The Way Earthly Things Are Going to the Tate Tanks in Tate Modern and will subsequently donate the work to Tate Collection, marking Modern Forms’ first major institutional engagement.
Premiered at documenta 14, Athens, in 2017, The Way Earthly Things Are Going, is one of the most compelling installation works of recent times. The work comprises a contemporary rendition of an ancient, polyphonic, Greek lament, played through a sophisticated audio installation. On an accompanying dot matrix display, global equity prices scroll by. Nominally taking economic crises as its subject, the work is a visceral and profound engagement with complexity, beauty and loss.
