Jake Chapman on Pessimism

Jake Chapman will be discussing the philosophy of Pessimism and its relationship to his practice. The modern tradition of Pessimism encompassing the thought of the likes of Friedrich Nietzsche, Arthur Schopenhauer,  Sigmund Freud and Albert Camus, refutes the Enlightenment concept of progress that still animates all major Western philosophies. Critical rather than speculative, Pessimism offers a radically different ways of thinking about existence and the world.
